Hello, i recently bought and used Plugin Lab's Horozontal Flyout Menu (DHTML MENU), and evrything seemed fine at first. Then i started recieving emails from clients telling me that the DHTML Menu didn't work.... after investigation, i reliased that Norton Internet Security 2003+ AD Blocker was disabling the menu. Does SmartMenu have the same problem? as i do not want to purchase another programme for it not to work if a client has NIS running.

I look forward to your responce

Hi,

I have never heard (nor have been reported) of such a possible issue related to NIS. I will do some tests on my own and will let you know if this could affect the SmartMenus ASAP..

Thanks!

Thank you, i look forward to hearing from you.

The test site that i am working on at present is --> http://www.redfoxit.co.uk/gcc/home.asp first try the menu with NIS AD blocker turned on and then try it with it off. Remember you must close down IE once you have turned NIS ADBLOCKER on and off.

Thanks again

I should also say, this is the test site, only the following links are set to go to specific pages 'Home' @Team > cricket > 1st > players. Ground > Club History. Officers > Committee members etc.

I did some tests on a machine under Windows 2000 with IE6 and NIS 2004 (with Ad Blocking active). I checked the SmartMenus site and a page on the local network and on both pages the menus loaded just fine without any sign of problem.

So I am sure that with the Ad Blocker in NIS 2004 there should be no problems. I haven't tested NIS 2003 or 2005 and I can't be sure about them but I suppose they will not cause any problem either.

The problem wasn't that the menu did not appear, It was the links on the menu, they were blocked from linking to another page, i.e. when you clicked a link nothing happened when NIS was on, but when i turned it off the links directed me to the new page.

I see.. :?

OK, I will test it again ASAP. Just a little question- are your links supposed to open in a new window or load in the same window?

they are to open in the same window

I checked again (on the same machine with NIS 2004) and all links from the menus built with the SmartMenus script work fine. Even the links that open and load in a new window function correctly. So I am sure the Ad Blocker in NIS (at least in NIS 2004) doesn't cause any problems.
