Forums Archive Index > SmartMenus v4.x General > Sub-Menu postion to Menu IF 'screen resolution' changes
Date: 18 Jun 2004 3:09 pm
(Note: I am no expert! I need 'laymans' answer, please)
I hope that I describe my problem without sounding like a total idiot.
(Currently using DWMX to create new Website, using the SMARTMENU).
The navigation is located 1/4way down the page. At the moment, the positioning of the SUB-MENU is set with X and Y pixel positioning BUT if a Viewer views the page on a DIFFERENT (i.e. larger) screen resolution the X and Y stays the same BUT the MENU TOP-LEVEL 'moves'.
How can I literally "LOCK" (ie. GROUP) the MENU and the related drop down SUB-MENU together? (So the SMARTMENU works on 800x600 and all smaller resolutions.

First of all, are you sure you are using a SmartMenus v4.x release? If you are using v4.x, I would strongly recommend you to move to the latest version available. If you have just started implementing your menus, it's better to use the latest version in any case. ;)
Anyway, you will have to use relative positioning for your menus. I am not very sure I got whether you need this for a permanent menu or for non-permanent menus (permanent is a menu which is always visible), so please take a look at both examples in the "Samples\Relative Position" directory in the directory where you have extracted the contents of the download file. Please open the examples and read the instructions carefully.
If you don't understand something, please ask here. If you have major problems you may send me a small one-page ZIP-ed example by email ( smartmenus{@}smartmenus.org ) and I will configure it for you.
Thanks!
